Support for Exceptional Students

Thanks to generous alumni and industry support, the School of Mining Engineering & Mineral Resources has over $500,000 in scholarships available annually. With additional support from the University of Arizona and College of Engineering, most students graduate debt-free.

In fact, if a mining student is a U.S. citizen, with a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated federal financial need, their tuition will be fully funded.

Apply for scholarships through the U of A Scholarship Universe. Applications typically open in the spring for the following academic year. More information on undergraduate scholarships and financial aid is available through the College of Engineering.

Additionally, the university's Veterans Education & Transition Services lists military-affiliated resources.

Nonresident Scholarship Opportunities

Western Undergraduate Exchange Program

Students who are permanent residents of a participating Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) state or territory and plan to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering may be eligible for a reduced tuition rate. Eligible WUE students pay 150% of Arizona resident tuition, plus all applicable fees.

Estimate Your WUE Tuition

Tuition rates may change each academic year. For the most accurate estimate:

1. Visit the University of Arizona Tuition Calculator.
2. Select the academic year you plan to attend.
3. Choose Western Undergraduate Exchange as your residency or tuition category.
4. Select Mining Engineering as your program.

The calculator will provide the estimated tuition and fees for the selected academic year. Actual costs may vary based on enrollment, fees, housing, financial aid, and other individual expenses.

How to Apply for WUE

1. Apply to the University of Arizona. Select Mining Engineering as your intended major on your application.
2. Receive admission to the College of Engineering. Students must first be admitted to the University of Arizona and the College of Engineering.
3. Submit the WUE application. After being admitted to the College of Engineering as a Mining Engineering student, complete and submit the WUE application.

Admission to the University of Arizona or the College of Engineering does not automatically guarantee WUE eligibility. Students must submit the separate WUE application and meet all residency, academic, enrollment, and application requirements.
