Join us for an immersive professional development experience designed for educators, "Cu at the Mine: Mining and Minerals Education for our Green Energy Future." This four-day event, held from June 24th to 27th, 2024, offers a comprehensive exploration of mining and mineral resources, pivotal for our sustainable energy future.

  • Housing is available for up to 30 teachers from the nights of June 23rd to June 27th.
  • Enjoy catered breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.

Program Details:

  • Daily professional development activities will run from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Attendees will receive a $1000 stipend upon completing all four days and submitting an Arizona Science Standards-aligned lesson plan for online publication.
  • Participate in at least eight Arizona Science Standards-aligned lessons focused on mining and minerals.

Exciting Field Trips:

  • Visit the open pit Mission Mine and the ASARCO Mining Discovery Center.
  • Explore the University of Arizona's San Xavier underground laboratory mine.
